Plagiarism Policy

1. Pledge of Originality

Authors who submit manuscripts to Misostenido undertake not to commit plagiarism, defined as the appropriation of texts, ideas, figures, tables, graphic materials, musical works or any other type of material belonging to other authors without their consent and without citing them correctly, even if express permission has been obtained from such authors.

Authors also undertake not to commit self-plagiarism, avoiding the recycling of their own previously published texts in such a way that there is over 20% similarity between a previous paper and the manuscript submitted to Misostenido, except where this is unavoidable (for example, descriptions of previously validated instruments or protocols), provided that the original publications are correctly cited.

2. Check Using Plagiarism Detection Software

In order to ensure the academic and scientific integrity of published material:

  • Misostenido’s editorial team checks every article using plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or similar tools).
  • If a similarity rate of over 20% is detected, the work will be thoroughly assessed, and the sources of the matching text will be carefully examined.
  • Following this review process, the editors will send a report to the corresponding author, stating either:
    • that the article has been ultimately rejected due to confirmed plagiarism or self-plagiarism, or
    • that the author has the chance to redraft the manuscript, ensuring that sources are properly cited and that problematic content is corrected before the deadline set by the journal.

Where there is clear evidence of an intention to deceive (extensive plagiarism, deliberate manipulation of citations, etc.), the article will be rejected and the matter may be brought to the attention of the authors’ affiliated institutions.

3. Originality and Simultaneous Submission

The proposed article must be original and:

  • not in the process of submission to another publication at the same time,
  • not have been previously published in any medium (journals, books, digital platforms, etc.).

Authors may submit updated papers adapted from unpublished scientific conference presentations or those available only in conference proceedings, provided that:

  • the content has been substantially revised and expanded,
  • the source is explicitly stated in the manuscript,
  • and Misostenido’s editorial review board is informed of this at the time of submission.
