Misostenido, Music, Education, and Therapy journal, is a scholarly journal published by the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), with a firm commitment to expanding knowledge, dissemination, and academic discourse regarding evidence-based music therapy and its relationship with the fields of health, social care, and education, as well as with related fields that enrich its theoretical foundations and critical analysis. The journal focuses primarily on music therapy, music in educational contexts, and music in its social and community aspects, publishing scientifically rigorous works that address empirical, theoretical, and bibliographic dimensions of research, practice, and interdisciplinary reflection. Misostenido is an annual, open-access journal with a continuous submission process; it is a free publication, peer-reviewed through a double-blind process, and available in Spanish and English.
Launched by David J. Gamella González in 2021 as a Teaching Innovation Project, the journal has recently undergone a restructuring of its editorial team and a review of its procedures and standards, with the aim of aligning itself with the quality requirements typical of scientific publications, strengthening the transparency of the editorial process, and offering the community increasingly rigorous, relevant, and high-value texts for researchers and professionals.
Current Issue
Issue 10 of *MiSOSTENiDO* (July 2025) is a special issue that reaffirms its commitment to evidence-based music therapy, featuring an editorial that positions Plato and Aristotle as epistemological pillars and the publication of the international update and validation of the reporting guidelines for music-based interventions (MBI). It also brings together a critical analysis of Cazenave’s biomusical proposal; a qualitative study on care for children who have experienced violence at a public hospital in Buenos Aires; reviews on pregnancy, stress in healthy adults, and depression; a case report on the ETHHAR app for reconstructing memories; and a synthesis of the neural bases of music— contributions available in both Spanish and English.
